Most Recent Update: 23 March 2011.
This website presents population change information for more than 400 species of North American Birds, as estimated from the North American Breeding Bird Survey. Estimates of trend (interval-specific estimates of population change), annual indices of abundance, and maps of abundance and population change for these species are presented for a variety of regions.

Please Note:

The 1966 - 2009 analysis results present the first implementation of a hierarchical model analysis of Breeding Bird Survey data. The hierarchical model analysis has been described in the peer-reviewed literature, and a comprehensive comparison of hierarchical model results with results from the route regression method used in earlier summaries is available at this link . These results have been reviewed, but we greatly value your opinions about the new analysis and results. Remember the disclaimer!, and please let us know about errors or other issues that limit the use and value of this site.

We recommend that users consult the help files for information regarding the estimates, estimation procedures, and the presentation of results. Presentation of the hierarchical model results differs slightly from earlier summaries. Details regarding these changes and other innovations in the Results and Summary Website are available at this link .
