Common Black-Hawk
The range of Common Black-Hawk should include Texas. We have 12-15 nesting pairs in the Davis Mountains of Jeff Davis County. Black Hawks have been present near Rio Grande Village, Big Bend NP for the past two years, and attempted, unsuccessfully, nesting in 1997. They also nested near Christoval, Tom Green County (near San Angelo), where they have been present for several years, and produced 2 young there in l996 and l in l997. Black Hawk also nested for three years in early 1990s at Baker's Crossing on the Devil's River, Val Verde County, northwest of Del Rio.
