Thanks to a plentiful prey base of White-winged Doves and grackles, Broad-winged Hawks are being found in riparian areas of city limits of certain Texas cities, e.g. Waco and Tyler. Nesting also was confirmed in Denton County, north of Dallas-Fort Worth. There are strong indications of urban nesting in Austin and San Antonio, as manifested by summertime juveniles.
